The typical wattle fence is built with either hazel or willow branches. They bend more easily and are able to be weaved through the uprights sticks / posts.

If you have access to these branches then you are set to make a rustic looking fence that is fun to build and strong to keep smaller animals. A wattle fence would look great as a border to a garden too.
