Preparing your garden for winter isn’t a one day thing. Obviously it just doesn’t become winter overnight, so you don’t have to feel rushed to do it all at once. Every year will also be a little different depending on what you plant and how the summer climate has been thus far.

Annually cleaning a garden is worth the effort. Removing plants that have died prevents build-up of disease. After the first soft freeze, many vine plants and blooms will die and can be tossed onto the compost. However, if you still have crops growing, don’t toss them out until the first hard freeze as many will still produce until then.

The tutorial in the link below provides many different ideas on how to properly get your garden ready for the winter months.
