10 Tools You Didn’t Know You Needed
Some tools, like your trusty cordless drill or hammer, you’re going to use all the time. These specialty tools you won’t need that often—but when the time comes, you’ll sure be glad you’ve got ’em.
I have compiled a list of 10 awesome tools I highly recommend buying when the cash flow allows! I have 3 of them and I can’t wait to get the rest. Check them out and let me know what you think over on Facebook.
1. A Peek-Inside-the-Walls Tool
It’s best to know what’s inside a wall—pipes, cables, an exhaust vent—before you take a reciprocating saw to it. Or maybe you want to see if your insulation has settled, leaving gaps at the top that cause drafts. The answer? An inspection tool featuring a waterproof minicamera attached to a flexible cable. It can fit inside a tiny hole to show you what’s hidden behind walls, floors, and ceilings by sending real-time images to a monitor. The least expensive model we found costs about $70. High-end versions aimed at pros offer a larger screen with a higher resolution, but even the less expensive versions have LED lights at the tip of the camera for seeing in the dark and can be accessorized with a hook, mirror, or magnet to see around nooks or grab that fastener that fell down the register vent.
